Improving environment protection by using clean cooking systems

LVIA

KONGWA, Tanzanie

Description

Jiko Banifu is a 6-years project focused on supporting local communities in increased awareness, skills and sensitisation regarding sustainable development through fighting the alarming rate of deforestation in Tanzania, where, due to a lack of alternatives, families use firewood and charcoal for cooking. There is a limited nationwide uptake of clean cooking solutions, due to a lack of distributors, virtually non-existent transport links and a lack of financial support for small-scale artisans. All the activities are targeting the most vulnerable groups living in rural areas. The volunteer will be directly involved supporting local colleagues in the implementation of: - awareness-raising campaigns - green cookstoves (Jiko Banifu) distribution - data collection - coordination meetings - communication activities (social, video, etc.) - narrative and financial reporting - monitoring procedures and filing project documents

LVIA will provide accommodation at the compound located in the Kongwa district. In the compound, there are an office and single cottages with 2 separate rooms with private bathrooms, equipped with basic furniture. There is a kitchen equipped with dishes, fridge and a gas cooker. In case of activities outside Kongwa, the organisation will provide for food and transport.

He/She will also receive a proper presentation of Jiko Banifu project, to have the possibility to be updated on the project implementation. Training on project proposal and writing will be also offered in case any financial opportunity will happen.
