Creating Opportunities: Together for Inclusion
Varstveno delovni center Toncke Hocevar
Ljubljana, Slovenia
Description
The Tončka Hočevar Care and Working Centre is a social welfare institution for adults with intellectual disabilities. We provide two main services. The first is a day programme offering meaningful work in various workshops, where participants maintain and develop their skills, learn new ones, and actively engage in the local community. The second service consists of residential homes, where users live as independently as possible while receiving support according to their individual needs.
In addition to work and housing programmes, we organize many social and leisure activities, including trips, cultural events, celebrations, and sports activities. We also participate in competitions organized by Special Olympics.
Volunteers will play an important role in supporting users in workshops and leisure activities. They will bring new ideas and organize creative activities that promote healthy lifestyles, social inclusion, and the development of personal skills.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Volunteers will live in a single room in a shared student apartment in Ljubljana, close to our centre. The kitchen, bathroom, and laundry facilities will be shared with other volunteers or students. Volunteers will receive €200 per month for food and basic necessities, as well as €150 pocket money. A city bus pass will be provided for transportation to work. Travel costs between the volunteer’s home country and Ljubljana will be reimbursed according to ESC rules and funding limits.
Training during the activity
The volunteer will attend training upon arrival an mid term training.
