Join the Scout Association of Slovenia in Bohinj, in the heart of Triglav National Park. Volunteers will support youth programmes, outdoor activities and community life at our scout centre and campsites. Tasks may include helping with canoeing, cycling, hiking, orientation games, camp skills, environmental actions, simple centre and campsite care, shared meals and intercultural activities with young people. The activity is designed as a learning and solidarity experience: volunteers work with mentors, gradually take more responsibility, reflect on their learning and prepare a Youthpass. Volunteers do not replace staff; they support and enrich existing youth programmes with their ideas, culture and motivation.
Beitrag zu Unterbringung, Verpflegung und Reisekosten
Volunteers will stay in a scout house by Lake Bohinj, in accommodation comparable to a youth hostel: simple, safe and suitable for young volunteers. Food will be provided through the scout centre kitchen or shared meal arrangements. Bicycles will be available for local mobility and project-related activities. Other local transport needed for the project will be arranged by the organisation. International travel to and from Slovenia will be supported according to European Solidarity Corps rules and applicable travel distance bands. Green travel will be encouraged where realistic.
Fortbildung im Rahmen der Tätigkeit
Volunteers will receive an introduction to the scout centre, safety rules, daily routines and community life in Bohinj. They will learn through practical work with mentors, youth workers and the centre team. Training may include teamwork, outdoor programme preparation, basic equipment care, food safety, sustainable food practices, reducing waste, communication with young people, intercultural learning and reflection on learning outcomes. Volunteers will also receive support for Youthpass and access to language learning support where applicable.
Teilnehmerprofil
We are looking for motivated young people aged 18–30 who enjoy nature, teamwork, community life and working with children and youth. Previous scouting, outdoor, cooking, hospitality or youth work experience is welcome, but not required. Volunteers should be ready for simple living conditions, shared meals and practical tasks in a scout centre environment. Basic English is needed for daily communication. We especially value openness, responsibility, curiosity, willingness to learn and respect for diversity, safety rules and the natural environment.
