Youth Work and Seasonal Events at a Finnish Youth Centre
Ankkapurhan kulttuurisäätiö
Anjala, Finlândia
Descrição
The project takes place in Kouvola, Finland, at Ankkapurha Youth Centre. It is designed for two ESC volunteers who will become part of our youth work team.
The main role of the volunteers is to support youth workers in planning, organizing and leading activities for children and young people. Activities include camp schools, youth camps, local youth clubs, school visits and events. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own ideas, skills and culture into the activities and help create new programmes.
The project also includes planning and organizing two special events: a Halloween event with the ESC team and a Christmas event for children and families.
When there are no youth activities or extra help is needed, volunteers may also support the kitchen, maintenance or housekeeping. These tasks are occasional and help volunteers learn how a Finnish youth centre operates.
Volunteers always work guided by or with the staff members.
Comparticipação nas despesas de alojamento, alimentação e transporte
Accommodation is arranged at Ankkapurha in a cozy apartment including living room with one double bed, upstairs bedroom with two single beds, bathroom and kitchen. Bed linen and towels are included. Both volunteers will be sharing the same apartment and may make the living arrangements together. There is a possibility to use bicycles, sauna, Lappish hut, game room and game arena at agreed times. Work happens mainly in the youth center and no transportation is required. If there is a need to move outside the center it will be arranged by staff of youth center.
Volunteers receive a food allowance for meals. Lunch is provided free at the Youth Centre’s restaurant on working days. Breakfast and dinner may also be available on some days.
