This volunteering activity aims to create a warm and inclusive environment for students at the start of the academic year. Volunteers will work as a team to design and run engaging workshops focused on empathy, integration, and mutual support during the "Empathy and Welcome Week." Additionally, the team will develop international-themed activities and materials to celebrate diversity and help every student feel welcome from day one.

Main tasks:

Prepare and facilitate workshops: Create and deliver diverse, engaging workshops for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-cycle students during Empathy and Welcome Week (held in the first week of the school year).

Develop international welcome materials: Create and organize international-themed activities and resources to welcome and integrate students into the school.

Comparticipação nas despesas de alojamento, alimentação e transporte

Volunteers will stay in a fully equipped house with shared same-gender bedrooms, 15 minutes by bus from the school. Accommodation and weekday canteen lunches are arranged by host organization AETA under the ESC project. Participants receive a €6/day food allowance and €6/day pocket money, managed by the lead organization, which also handles travel reimbursements. Arrival is via Porto Airport, traveling to Vila Nova de Famalicão and taking a local bus to Oliveira S. Mateus, followed by a 5-minute walk.

Formação durante a atividade

Volunteers will receive a full reception and integration into the local context, alongside structured guidance on their weekly work plan. To ensure a valuable experience, continuous support is provided for intercultural learning and reflection. Additionally, mentors will monitor overall participation and handle communication with project partners whenever needed throughout the project.
