Join Salta Fronteiras in Felgueiras, a quiet rural area in northern Portugal, for a 100-day individual volunteering experience focused on education, inclusion, sustainability and community engagement. Volunteers will support children and young people after school through non-formal education activities and study support; facilitate sessions in schools; develop community activities on inclusion and environmental sustainability; collaborate with an intergenerational centre and programmes involving older people; and support activities related to mental health and emotional well-being. Volunteers will take part in planning, preparation, implementation and evaluation of activities. Each volunteer will also be challenged to create a Personal Project based on their interests, skills and ideas, with mentoring from the organisation.
Comparticipação nas despesas de alojamento, alimentação e transporte
Each volunteer will have a private bedroom in a shared house with the other volunteers. Volunteers will receive €6 per day as pocket money and €10 per day as a subsistence allowance. With this allowance, volunteers are responsible for purchasing and preparing their own food, as well as covering basic daily living needs and household necessities. Formação durante a atividade
Volunteers will receive ongoing training and mentoring throughout the project. This will include an introduction to the organisation and local community, non-formal education methods, inclusion and diversity, sustainability, mental health and well-being, intercultural learning, teamwork and communication. Volunteers will also receive support to plan and develop their Personal Project. Learning will be regularly reflected on through mentoring sessions and Youthpass, and volunteers will have access to language learning support through OLS.
Perfil do participante
We are looking for motivated young people aged 18–30 who are interested in community work, non-formal education, inclusion, sustainability and intercultural learning. Previous experience is not required, but volunteers should be open-minded, responsible, flexible and willing to learn.
Participants should be comfortable working with children, young people and older people, supporting educational activities, study sessions, school workshops and community initiatives. An interest in mental health, social inclusion, environmental sustainability and active citizenship is welcome.
The project is especially suitable for volunteers who enjoy a calm lifestyle, as Felgueiras is a small and quiet area with fewer leisure opportunities than a large city. Volunteers should also be prepared to share a house with other participants and contribute responsibly to daily communal life.
We particularly welcome young people with fewer opportunities and value motivation, initiative, creativity, teamwork and willingness to develop a personal project during the volunteering period.
