Caritas Diocesana di Patti is a non-profit association dedicated to social solidarity, promoting volunteering, and giving back to the community. The Caritas Centre was established at the end of 2021 to support people facing economic difficulties and from diverse social backgrounds. In this volunteering teams volunteers will assist the Caritas Centre with the management of donations (food, clothes, shoes, toys), providing logistical support. They will help with the management of the warehouse, sorting of goods, and transportation of goods from the warehouse to other locations. During the two weeks, volunteers will support the distribution of food, clothes and toys to local churches and local families. Finally, they will also plan and organise the Christmas lunch with local people with disabilities and facilitate some recreational activities for the day. In addition, volunteers will take care of daily tasks like cooking for the whole group and cleaning common areas.
Comparticipação nas despesas de alojamento, alimentação e transporte
The accommodation is located in Sant’Agata di Militello. Volunteers will sleep in shared rooms, divided by gender, with 4-6 people in each room. There are 3 bathrooms equipped with showers, which will be shared by gender. The host organisation will provide grocery shopping, and volunteers will cook meals.
Sant’Agata di Militello is a small town on the coast of Sicily. Accomodation is close to the railway station, so it’s possible to reach nearby cities by train. Excursions to nearby cities can be organised at the volunteers’ own expense only during free days.
