Pi Gençlik Derneği

VIN

Kathmandu, Nepal

Descrição

Green Minds Together is an initiative in Kathmandu/Jitpurphedi, focusing on women’s empowerment, disaster resilience, and sustainable agriculture through permaculture. Volunteers will support women’s leadership, digital and financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and community participation through workshops and activities with women’s groups and cooperatives. They will contribute to disaster awareness campaigns, school safety initiatives, evacuation drills, and community preparedness. In sustainable agriculture, volunteers will participate in farming, composting, soil and water conservation, natural pest management, seed saving, and knowledge-sharing with local farmers. Volunteers will collaborate with local communities, schools, farmers, and community organizations, assisting with educational activities, practical initiatives, awareness campaigns, and project documentation. Their work will promote gender equality, environmental sustainability, and community resilience.

Comparticipação nas despesas de alojamento, alimentação e transporte

Volunteers will stay in shared rooms with separate arrangements for men and women and access to a common kitchen and living area. Meals will be arranged by ViN through local staff on a cost-sharing basis, or volunteers may cook their own food. Public transport, including local buses, connects the area to Kathmandu, while nearby project sites are usually within walking distance. ViN will support accommodation, meals, transport, and project access. Volunteers are expected to share responsibilities, cooperate, and respect local customs and community life.

Formação durante a atividade

Volunteers receive pre-departure training to prepare them for their placement, covering cultural awareness, humanitarian principles, safety and safeguarding, and practical expectations. Upon arrival, a 3-day on-arrival training provides local orientation, cultural context, safety protocols and information on local support structures. Throughout the placement, volunteers are supported by a hosting mentor, regular check-ins and access to psychosocial support if needed. Local emergency protocols and safeguarding policies apply throughout the placement.

Perfil do participante

We are looking for volunteers who are open-minded, responsible, empathetic, and motivated to contribute to women’s empowerment and sustainable community development. Volunteers should be interested in gender equality, environmental protection, disaster resilience, and sustainable agriculture. Teamwork, adaptability, communication skills, and a willingness to learn from local communities and different cultures are essential. Previous experience in community work, environmental activities, agriculture, digital literacy, or educational initiatives is an advantage, but enthusiasm and a proactive attitude are equally important. If you are eager to share your knowledge, develop new skills, exchange ideas, and contribute to stronger, more resilient communities, we welcome your application!
