European Solidarity Corps

The power of together

Theatre & Community Volunteer at Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium (2 places) – Holstebro, Denmark (12 months)

NORDISK TEATERLABORATORIUM ODIN TEATRET

HOLSTEBRO, Denmark

Description

Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium is an internationally renowned theatre laboratory in Holstebro, Denmark, founded in 1964.

We are looking for two motivated young volunteers to join our team for 12 months.

As a volunteer you will take part in the daily life of the theatre and support our artistic and community activities: performances, workshops, festivals and residencies, as well as co-creation projects with local groups such as refugees, seniors, migrants and LGBTQIA+ people. You will also help with production, audience contact, communication and greener ways of producing culture, and you will be encouraged to develop a small project of your own.

No theatre experience is required – curiosity, openness and a wish to work with people are what matter most.

We are hosting two volunteers: one from an EU or associated country and one from an EU neighbouring country.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

You will live in shared accommodation with a single room, close to the theatre. You will receive a monthly food allowance and pocket money according to the European Solidarity Corps rates for Denmark. A bicycle is provided for daily travel, and transport from Billund Airport to the theatre is arranged on arrival. Your travel to and from Denmark is covered within the European Solidarity Corps travel rules, and you will be insured through the Corps insurance scheme.

Training during the activity

You will take part in the on-arrival and mid-term training organised by the Danish National Agency, and receive Danish language support. A mentor and a supervisor at Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium will follow you throughout the year. You will learn by doing in theatre production, workshops, audience work and project management, and receive a Youthpass certificate at the end.

Participant profile

We are looking for a young person aged 18–30 who is curious, open-minded and motivated to work with people of different ages and backgrounds. Experience in communication (social media, writing, photo or video) or in community work is a plus, as is an interest in theatre or the arts – but no specific background is required. You should be able to communicate in basic English, be willing to learn some Danish, and be ready to live in a small Danish town for 12 months. Above all, we value initiative, reliability and a wish to learn.
