The Jean Sturm Gymnasium is a secondary school. It is one of the oldest schools in Strasburg as it was created in 1538. Nowadays the Jean Sturm Gymnasium schools nearly 1100 pupils (14 to 18 year-old teenagers) and 129 people work in this institution (teachers, clerks and technicians included). The weekly schedule ranges from Monday morning to Friday evening and is based on a 33-hours- week, with a break during the day. A typical week may be: - a time of presence and dialogue in the pupils’ living areas - leading workshops according to the volunteer’s personal project - extra-curricular coaching - team meetings and organization times

Comparticipação nas despesas de alojamento, alimentação e transporte

As far as community life is concerned, the volunteer will be hosted in a 6-rooms- flat with other volunteers from the Lucie Berger school (partner school), located about 10 minutes walk from the Jean Sturm Gymnasium. They will share the kitchen, living and dining-room, bathroom but will have also an individual bedroom. They will have to follow the rules in force in the hosting institution. Food and accommodation will be provided to the volunteer by the Jean Sturm Gymnasium. The volunteer will share a flat with other volunteers but of course have his / her own bedroom.

Formação durante a atividade

Several seminars organized by VISA ad and by the French National Agency throughout the year.

Perfil do participante

Interest for the target group (children and teenagers). The candidate should ideally be 20 or older (to have an age gap between the students and the volunteer). A basic level in french is highly recommended
