Volunteer with children in Lentvaris children day center Akimirka (A3)

Περιγραφή της δραστηριότητας

Every day center "Akimirka" welcomes groups of children with difficult family backgrounds to spend their time after school purposefully. Here children find help with their homework, spend time with friends and volunteers, play, participate in workshops and various activities. A variety of events, celebrations, hikes and camps are organised for them occasionally. Center works with children's families as well - providing consultations, social and material help. A volunteer will spend most of his time with kids - helping them do their homework, playing, participating in events, workshops, etc. The rest of the time volunteer will have to help run regular tasks in administration and take part in organizing bigger events.

Διαμονή, διατροφή και έξοδα μετακίνησης

Volunteer will be provided monthly food money. Daily commute and other necessary transport expenses will be covered. Accommodation will be found according to our budget and volunteers needs - volunteer can expect to at least live in a separate room, provided with all necessary utilities (fridge, oven, etc.). Both living in Lentvaris (the local town) or in Vilnius (the capital 20km away) is possible. A fair amount of pocket money will be given each month.

Κατάρτιση κατά τη δραστηριότητα

Volunteer will have to attend lithuanian language classes twice a week, which will be included into his working hours. There will be two training courses scheduled during the volunteering period. A 3-day training at the beginning of volunteers term and similar but slightly longer mid-term training. These courses are meant for volunteers to understand how the project works, to set goals for their skill development during the project, self-evaluate their progress. At the end of project every volunteer will be provided with Youthpass certificate to acknowledge their developed skills.

Προφίλ συμμετέχοντος

We are looking for volunteers who find joy in working with children. Most importantly we need you to be responsible, creative, full of ideas and energy. Being talkative and easy to make friends with will really help at the beginning. It is very important for volunteer to speak decent English, as it is the main language you'll have to use.
