By enjoying ESC in YMCA in Slovakia YOU CAN: - volunteer 9 - 12 months in Roma community centre Slovakia from September in small community centre in Jelsava - work with children and young people - explore your skills MAIN TASKS - daily activities in Roma community centre: kindergarten, afterschool club, music club, sport club and others depending on interest of local community - other YMCA activities according to current offer (non-formal language education, national meetings, workshops, organizing international seminars, charity events, etc.) - own initiative/project (e.g. involvement with local students, own workshops, etc.) according to volunteers interest and abilities We offer supervision for volunteers, support in many areas :) more information about ymca: www.ymca.sk We continue to develop programes and cooperation that target local community needs and involve people from various backgrounds...

Konaklama, yemek ve yol ayarlamaları

Accommodation & Board: shared room (max. 2 persons/room) in rented flat near town centre with Internet access, shared kitchen and bathroom with other international volunteers, fully equipped kitchen, staff kitchen or lunch at local restaurants at better price during lunch time MENU (average 5,00 €), 300 € / monthly meal allowance and pocket money Travel: one return journey to and from the service is reimbursed, maximum sum is depending on distance to Slovakia, see this https://ec.europa.eu/programmes/erasmus-plus/resources/distance-calculator_en

Training during the activity

Activities: ROMA CENTRE: prepare, assist and create own various activities with children aged 3 - 5, 6 - 11 and teenagers in Roma community centre: singing, arts&crafts, playing games and sports, help with homework, assist with hygiene, talk to, play, Language café, Clubroom movie discussion, Media hub, Slovak language lessons, Own mini-project in local community can be developed during ESC depending on volunteer, Cultural centre/Art Café, Youth Hub: volunteering development, organisational support, web updates, staff meetings, ESC monitoring

Participant profile

✔ commitment for the whole 12 months (upon agreement) ✔ basic knowledge of English for everyday communication ✔ enjoy to work with children and youth on regular basis ✔ active, responsible and open minded ✔ various skills are welcome (but not required): ability to play any musical instrument, sports, singing, dancing, drama ... ✔ ability to adapt and to react flexibly in challenging social environment necessary ✔ character integrity: being a role model ✔ communicative ✔ able to find own entertainment in free time
