Non-accessible content

Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of the ‘European Youth Portal’ website, we are aware of some limitations, which we are working to fix. Below is a description of known limitations and potential solutions. Please contact us if you encounter an issue not listed below.

Known limitations for the ‘European Youth Portal’ website:

  1. Missing image description: Some images in the content do not have an image description. We are constantly working on ensuring that all images have an alt text description.
  2. Interactive maps: Interactive maps are not accessible to people with a vision impairment or users who rely on keyboard navigation. Also, some embedded elements to the map (buttons, markers, pins) do not have a name available to an accessibility API. We plan to fix this issue by October 2024.
  3. Insufficient contrast: Some elements have insufficient contrast in the Youth Week section, the European Solidarity Corps section, in the menu of the DiscoverEU section and inside interactive maps. We are planning to fix these issues by December 2024.
  4. PDF documents: Some documents are in PDF format and are not fully accessible.
  5. Anchor element found with a valid href attribute, but no link content has been supplied, for some elements in the Volunteering organisations list page. We plan to fix this issue by August 2024.
