Grow Clinic Volunteer Assistant

As a Grow Clinic Assistant, the volunteer would work with CHEERing team members helping mothers, babies, and families in refugee camps and shelters in the greater Athens region. The assistants help to weigh and measure the children, help with basic public health education (for example, dental care, reproductive health issues); and participate in the associated activities of CHEERing - liaising with warehouses for needed items like strollers and nappies; contributing to reports, and participating in meetings and trainings). In addition volunteers collaborate with other organizations offering health care, shelter and education activities, making referrals and attending joint meetings. The work improves health and empowers refugees in the areas of human dignity and human rights, and promotes a more just and equitable platform for refugees in Greece.

Alloggio, vitto e trasporto

Accommodation is available in CHEERing's hosted apartments, and volunteers will be provided with a food allowance based on the guidelines. Local travel within Athens (a monthly Metro card), and for volunteering activities will be covered by CHEERing.

Formazione durante l'attività

CHEERing has a training syllabus for all staff and volunteers that are related to our line of work (breastfeeding, infant nutrition), and also for additional personal development in the areas of social media, etc on FutureLearn. Our management team are varied in their expertise and provide the role of mentor for specific areas and competences (social media, financial management, project management, infant feeding, sports and health, etc.) and during orientation, there will be a discussion about the learning outcomes based on the job description of that particular volunteer.

Profilo del partecipante

CHEERing is looking for a health-oriented individual who is interested in our Grow Clinic activities. A background in health, with an interest in the humanitarian field and fieldwork is highly suited for this role. The ability to speak multiple languages (French and/or Arabic is an asset, but not essential).
