"Tipping Point" - democratic and environmental education

Your main workplace is the office of Naturfreundejugend. Besides daily office-work, there are three tasks on focus: The Environmental Detective: You will be included in environmental educational activities, especially Workshops with children and youngster. The Intercultural Community Garden: You will be part of planning and realizing the gardening saison as well as organising (intercultural) community events. The garden grows according to the principles of Permaculture, to ensure its long-term Sustainability and prevent any damage to the surrounding environment. Your Own Project: You are free to realize your own ideas and have the possibility to propose individual knowledge and skills. Furthermore, you will be part of groupholidays and international exchanges as a youth counsellor together with other volunteers.

Alloggio, vitto e trasporto

You will live in your private room in a shared flat with one other person in the centre of Erfurt, Thuringia. The flat has a full-equipped kitchen and bathroom, the room is equipped with furniture. It’s paid by the hosting organization. You will get money for food according to the national remuneration in kind. You can prepare your food in the kitchen of the flat. On events organised by us or by partner organisations, food is included. A bicycle will be provided in Erfurt. In addition, tickets will be provided for public transport, when necessary for activities directly connected to the ESC.

Formazione durante l'attività

You will have an opportunity to attend German lessons with an experienced teacher. Continuation in the following months is possible depending on your interest and situation with the budget. Concerning your own project, you will get adequate information from our professional members, while you will be trained about environmental education and working with children, as well. Climbing and canoeing trainings and trainings on pedagogical topics can be provided, too. You will get a mentor who will help you getting familiar with everything in the new city and country.

Profilo del partecipante

We are looking for a volunteer who can identify herself/ himself with the values and goals of the Naturfreunde Jugend. So you should be interested in working with children and adolescents, as well as in education and issues such as anti-discrimination, sustainability and environment. Elementary knowledge of German is necessary. You will work with a professional team as well as with a volunteer team and help to shape the association's work.
