ACET SR is an independent national branch of ACET International Alliance (www.acet-international.org). Organization ACET SR was established in 1996 with national office in Nové Zámky.

Presently we cooperate at national level within Slovakia with more than 30 volunteers – ACET trainers.



The main aim of ACET SR organization is non-formal education on primary schools and high schools focused on sexually transmitted diseases, human relationships, marriage and parenting and providing quality leisure-time activities for young people. Our mission is to help the targeted groups particularly children and youth in fulfilling meaningful life based on Christian values. With our activities we want to contribute to the personal development of young people. Up to now, our lectures have ordered more than 30% of all schools in Slovakia. These types of lectures have heard over 52,000 students and 2,200 teachers throughout Slovakia during past seven years.

Our volunteers have organized over 400 subsequent meetings where more than 8000 young people aged 13-18 years participated.



ACET SR - as a local branch with office in Nová Zámky organizes activities focused on non-formal education, social events, cultural and sport activities. At the local level there are 8 active members and each year we are reaching around 800 young people with our activities. Employees of the organization are the director, who is the legal representative of the organization and he coordinates whole network of volunteers involved in the management and organization of all activities nationally and locally. Furthermore, we have paid positions: economist/accountant assistant and office manager/coordinator of afterschool free time activities.



Our target groups are young people aged 12-33 years. We seek to provide programs with aim to eliminate risky behavior of threatened youth groups through prevention and intervention activities aimed primarily at students, their families and teachers.



Currently we run following regular programs:



Community centre – is a space for interaction with students, parents, students and teachers. Activities lead to prevention, intervention, motivation and advocacy. The centre is located in downtown of Nové Zámky.



ACET CLUB (open space club) - the aim is to create a safe place besides the school for solving the problems of students who feel isolated, misunderstood or threaten in their surroundings. The target group are students of 14-19 ages. ACET Club is open on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 22:00. It allows young people to spend their leisure with games, music, informal meetings and discussions with their peers and lecturers from ACET organization.



School activities on week basis:



Lectures "SPI, relationships and education to marriage and parenting“ (3 x week) - is presented in a humorous but strict manner with respect to personal responsibility in choosing sexual and life partner.



"Love and You" (1x week) is a three-month program (12 meetings) aimed at students of primary and secondary schools. The aim of the course is to discuss values related to life of teenager and to some extent, to bring influence to their decision making during a personal crisis and teach them how to formulate and present their own ideas and opinions.



"Preparation for Life" (1 x week) is a three-month program aimed at high school students who are one year before graduation. The objective of this program is to help them define their personal qualities, to broaden their presentation and communication skills, so they are able to easily apply on labour market or to assist them in choosing a university.



"Did you know that" (3 x week) – this project is a non-formal education at online social networks where we try to inform and to educate young people through various videos, photos and educational articles about various topics such as adolescent behaviour, negative influence of peer pressure to life of young person, soft addictions, sexual health of men and women, partnerships, marriage, promiscuity...



Projects organized once a year:



Supernatural - music show with interesting guests from ACET SR, Slovakia and abroad , where in addition to the music program performers bring to peers message from their personal life with educational and preventive intention, for example in topic of "addiction " where we reach in average about 650 students in 4 days.



1 December - ACET Slovakia organizes every year cultural-prevention program called “AIDS and YOU” to the date of global AIDS Day. There are about 900 students from primary and secondary schools participating on this program.



ACET SR – Nové Zámky is also very active in the field of international cooperation with partner organizations from the EU (Czech Republic, Denmark , Germany, Netherlands , England, Ireland , Ukraine). There is wider cooperation with partners from the USA too, from where every year volunteers come to help with project "SUPERNATURAL".
