Descrizione dell'organizzazione

The Asilo Valdese for elderly people belong to the Waldensian Church (www.chiesavaldese.org) and it is an residential organization hosting 110 elderly people, 90 of them non-sufficient. The organization has the national health system authorization and cooperate with the local health institution for the assistance of the non-sufficient people. The objective is to respond to the need of elderly people in the rural area of east Piedmont, around the small city of Pinerolo. The center is very well organized especially for what concern the leisure activity program for elderly people. The organization feels the calling for serving the other and caring about people in situation of need. Its mission is the full sadisfaction and happiness of the guests. The main goal is to put the elderly person in the condition to keep its own dignity and the new value coming from elderly age, even in cases of total or partial loss of autonomy and self sufficiency.

The organization was funded in 1884 after the wish of a local pastor and thank to donations of the local community. The main goal was to take care of elderly people of the small village of San Giovanni. In 1929 the new area was opened and the center became a eldery house for anyone in need, not depending on the religious belonging or geographical origin. Today it also provides daily service for sufficient elderly people who want to participate in the leisure activities organized by the social workers.
