The Young Women's Christian Association is the oldest volunteer organization in Lebanon to address challenges facing women. It has been active since the beginning of the 20th Century, in developing leadership qualities and promoting the collective power of women in order for them to achieve equal rights, health, security, dignity and freedom.
Our vision is a fully inclusive world where justice, peace, human dignity, freedom, and care for the environment are promoted and sustained by women’s leadership.
Our Mission is to develop the leadership and collective power of women and girls, to achieve justice, peace, health, human dignity, freedom and a sustainable environment for all people.
YWCA - Beirut is a member of the National Council of the Lebanon YWCA, which currently includes nine branches in different regions of Lebanon. It is a distinctive forum for the discussion of women's issues. It is a women-led organization that achieves positive change by providing ongoing programs, activities and services for women, youth and communities. It has a multi-dimensional program strategy that reaches hundreds of women and youth every year:
A Technical College BT and TS program, a Hostel for girls that accommodate working women and students, a Cultural and Training Center, Women’s Leadership and Capacity Building programs, Vocational Training, Hobbies and Skills workshops, as well as several community outreach activities, and a number of social advocacy issues that engage young women and youth.
YWCA-Beirut was accredit since 2015 for European Voluntary Services EVS and participated in many Euro Med and Erasmus plus projects.
We received till 2019 two international volunteers for internship from different universities to work on Gender issues and 5 European volunteers since year 2016 till 2019 within the framework of the European Voluntary Service- Erasmus Plus to help students of the YWCA Technical College in improving their English Language through Non Formal learning , intercultural experience ,diveristy and enriched their own personal experience at our venue in Lebanon.
