Primary School and Kindergarten Complex No. 17 in Kraków composed by Kindergarten No. 32 and Primary School No. 90 with integration groups is an institution attended also by children with special educational needs. ZSP number 17 ensures care and safety of children, creates favorable conditions for individual and comprehensive development and it enables the equalization of educational opportunities to all the children.

The activities in our institutions are focused on the child, his needs and comprehensive development of personality. We are distinguished by taking care of the complete education and teaching from a very young age till the end of primary school. We have highly qualified teaching staff, and taking in consideration the presence of groups and classes with special needs, in our institution there is also staff and material resources that facilitate specialized psychological and pedagogical help for the children. We own a room that enables us to work on children’s sensory processing, a library, a common room, gyms, a sensory garden and a big playground for children from Kindergarten.

We support our pupils in developing their interests and hobbies by offering them different kinds of extracurricular activities. There is a very well working student theater in our school called “Animek”, a group of scouts, there are judo classes, ballet and also art and music classes. Children are often taking part in contests, festivals, excursions and workshops. We have a beautiful tradition in our Kindergarten that is associated to the works of our patron – Ludwik Jerzy Kern, an annual contest in which take part different kindergartens from Kraków. We also organize every year in October the Dni Pamięci o Patronie (days of remembrance of the patron).

Contests are a great occasion to broaden actions and to promote our institution in the local, involving also their parents, but we also take part in contests organized by other institutions. As an institution we take part in many charity events. We are involved in protecting our environment, we support an animal shelter, we collect materials needed by children in hospitals or in orphanages. Every year the parent council is collecting funds for the most disadvantaged pupils.

We are an institution that takes care of a friendly atmosphere and creates favorable conditions for developing good interpersonal relations. We encourage comprehensive children’s activity and we create a learning space where the child develops its intellectual, emotional, social and physical potential. We introduce children to a world of universal values such as Truth, Beauty, Love, Good and we create situations that enable them to live and understand these values.
