"MilleniuM" Training and Development Institute (MilleniuM) is an NGO (founded in 2000) that implements programs and projects in the field of personal, organizational, and community development. The mission of MilleniuM is to promote quality non-formal education by encouraging civic initiative and youth work at the local level, by contributing to personal, organizational, and community development, and transforming the concept of collaboration and partnership into a current practice of associative life in the Republic of Moldova.
MilleniuM is currently seen as a reference point at the national level in terms of quality non-formal education and youth work in the Republic of Moldova. In its activity MilleniuM pays particular attention to activities with young people, as they represent the potential and resources that will help to solve all the existing problems.
In the last 10 years, MilleniuM has been focusing on the development of the managerial capacities of youth organizations in the Republic of Moldova, as well as those of the Eastern Partnership and the European Union under the Youth in Action program (2007-2013) and Erasmus plus (2014-2020). The accumulated experience allows us to support other organizations on such topics as non-formal education, youth policies, strategic planning, project management, financial management, collaboration, and partnership, etc.
As a result of our experience, in 2017 MilleniuM was selected by SALTO EECA to manage Info Centre in Moldova for Erasmus+ Youth and Erasmus+ Youth and European Solidarity Corps, in order to promote Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps programs in the country and inform young people, youth workers and youth organization about possibilities to participate in the programs.
The strategic approach of MilleniuM is focused on covering several perspectives of development: personal & professional development, organizational & community development, partnership & networking development.
MilleniuM organizes seminars and training focusing on non-formal education, unemployment, career planning, leadership, communication, and other topics for the personal & professional development of youth, youth workers, youth leaders, trainers, teachers, and representatives of youth organizations.
MilleniuM develops youth organizations by organizing seminars, trainings, study visits and partnership building activities on project management, volunteering, capacity building, fundraising, strategic partnership and other relevant topics, which are contributing to the organizational development of civil society organizations.
Regarding the development of communities, MilleniuM supports and guides communities in their needs to develop successful strategic plans by facilitating community meetings, hosting round tables and trainings, and promoting the active participation of citizens in the decision-making process. During all of its activities, MilleniuM is striving to identify relevant partners between and among the youth NGOs, representatives of Public Authorities and Business, by promoting synergies and stimulating new forms of cooperation.
In the last years,’ we have been cooperating with the Ministry of Education and Research of Moldova in order to contribute to the development of youth policy, promote quality non-formal education and youth work in Moldova. As a result of this cooperation we are implementing from 2015 (each year) Long Term Training of Trainer in the youth field, and from 2018 are designing Competence Model for Youth Workers in Moldova and creating educational programs for developing these competencies in youth workers around the country.
Since 2018 we are organizing a National Non-Formal Conference in order to discuss and analyze topics of common interest to youth workers and trainers in the youth field and to promote quality in non-formal education.
From 2020, MilleniuM was selected as Implementing Partner of UNFPA Moldova in order to create common efforts in developing youth work in the Republic of Moldova and contributing to the professional development of competencies of youth workers based on the Portfolio for Youth Workers and Youth Leaders created by Council of Europe and ETS Competence Model for Youth Workers developed by SALTO Training and Cooperation in partnership with the National Agencies. Additionally to this we are promoting recognition and validation of competencies developed in non-formal and informal contexts using open badges as a digital tool. Also, from 2021 MilleniuM is organizing the annual National Forum of Youth Workers focused on main aspects of youth work and youth workers professional development.
