Descrição da organização

Fundacja “Sprawni Inaczej” (Foundation for the Differently Able) came into legal existence in 1989 in Gdansk. The organisation's mission is to bring help to people with disabilities by setting up new centres providing training, therapy and rehabilitation, as well as work for people with disabilities. The Foundation's key objectives also include integrating people with disabilities into society, promoting art created by people with disabilities and raising social awareness about disabilities. The Foundation helps the disabled through education, rehabilitation and therapy workshops. It also helps them to find employment and offers information on issues concerning disabled people.
The organisation has successfully developed its activities in several towns and cities in Poland, and has been involved in many pioneering and innovative initiatives. Our Foudation has eight premises with basic equipment in Gdańsk, Kościerzyna, Bytów, Lubieszyn, Konarzyny, Miastko and a permanent team of co-workers. At present there is up to 70 employees hired on the basis of an employment contract. They are instructors, psychologists, physiotherapist, project coordinators, administrative workers and drivers. In Gdańsk three outposts are located: two Occupational Therapy Workshops and one Daily Self-help House for people with mental disorders.

Foundation is active in the European Voluntary Service field since 2007. We have triple status of sending, hosting and coordinating organisation.
The employers of the Foundation “Sprawni Inaczej” consist of professionalists and at the same time people who do their work with passion and from the bottom of their hearts. The awards of “Amber Sword” presented to us in 1994 and 2006 are the tangible evidence of that. We have been also distinguished as the best non-governmental organization both in 2008 and 2014 in the President of Gdansk contest of Lech Badkowski. We obtained the prize “Active in the city” in the category coordinator of voluntary service for 2011. Therefore we really care about maintaining and raising the standard of our organization by becoming involved in a variety of undertakings. The projects of the European Voluntary Service plays an essential role among our activities. Participation in a wide range of worthwhile undertakings directly translates into the quality of help we provide to our charges.
