Associazione Culturale Oltre... is a non-profit organization with the aim of activating the territory through inclusive, participatory and environmentally sustainable projects of urban animation. Among the many cultural, social, artistic and educational initiatives, there are the very popular International Festival of Soup of Bologna, Par Tòt Parade and Uhlula! Lupi in citta' Par Tòt for children — projects that have made the Association Oltre... one of the most signifcant organizations in the city.Oltre... has its operational headquarters at B.U.C.O. - a space under Stalingrado bridge which is a place for meetings and discussions, as well as a function-room for arts and crafts hosting various artistic entities. In March 2007, Associazione Oltre... joined ANCeSCAO (the national association of community centers, senior committees and urban gardens) stressing with this choice the intergenerational and intercultural approach that always characterized the organization.Oltre... has about a hundred members and is composed of a permanent staff ranging between 4 and 7 people who coordinate the different activities. During the organization of the festival, many associations, networks and individuals are involved and carry out workshops and training activities which involve up to 120 organizers, and 2500 participants to the workshop activities. Our target groups are local communites, young people interested in eco-friendly projects, young people with fewer opportunities because of social, geographical, economical, cultural obstaclesProject il B.U.C.O. (all year)Il BUCO is a space created beneath an arch of the bridge on Stalingrad in the San Donato district in Bologna. Nomads for nine years, in 2007 Oltre... has rented this place and opened a "self-construction site" with the help of many volunteers which is now an autonomous space, and operational headquarters of the association. In addition to being an office this is a place of institutional activities, initiatives, workshops and cultural events organized in collaboration with other organizations. The site reflects the spirit of the association and also hosts events organized by other local associations such Betty & Books, Sambaradan, Capoeira Angola Palmares, Djembe-Ta, Bromos circus duo, la Banda del BUCO, ScambiEuropei, Circolya, Grundfrequenz, Giovani Eritrei, Lhub/UrbanResistDance and much more. Some examples of activities include: workshops and culinary arts, ethnic and thematic dinners, exhibitions and concerts, theater performances, rehearsals, movies, lectures, parties, self-financing events, swap parties and activities for children. In 2012 was launched Z-a.g.o. (Zona agricola giardino orto) a project of participatory urban gardening to valorize the area in front of BUCO. This area (which goes from the steps of Stalingrado bridge to the wall of separation with the railroad) has been a partially degraded non-place. The constant presence on the territory of the Association that has turned this place into a small green public area where you can do a picnic and relax. The district council is still supporting ZAGO through an active citizenship programme in order to maintain this area of socialization and aggregation — an artistic and green landmark for the neighborhood.Recently the Association has launched a new project called "Camere d'Aria", which revolves around an ex-window frame factory in Bologna. It’s a two-store building of 600 square metres, bought and partially renovated by the City of Bologna. In February 2014 Associazione Oltre… signed an agreement with the City of Bologna, Department of Culture in order to create a multipurpose space for arts and crafts in the spirit of Oltre… according to which creativity, culture and art are gluing various projects together to give the pretext and multiple occasions for socializing, conviviality, training, international exchanges and art productions. One of the goals is also to involve the neighbourhood of this particular suburban area.At Camere d’Aria you can find: artistic residences; space for creativity, workshops, presentations, dancing, organizing meetings; community kitchen available for residents and guests, workshop with hundreds of tools and parts, where you can create and build freely, social bike workshop, storage for recycling workshops, tailor’s workshop (also theatrical), a professional kitchen (cucina popolare) with a bread-making oven.
