One of the fundamental principles of the international Red Cross and Red Crescent movement is that of a VOLUNTARY CHARACTER, since it is a voluntary and disinterested relief institution. Based on this principle, all Red Cross assemblies have volunteer personnel who selflessly and in solidarity develop an activity for the benefit of the community, always within the framework of the aims and objectives of the Red Cross.
The local office of Tudela (Navarra) works actively with different social and health programs, in which volunteers are incorporated. Taking into account our experience in the field of voluntary action, we find it enriching to be able to share our humanitarian work with volunteers from other countries.
The Tudela Red Cross actively coordinates with other social initiative entities, non-profit associations, unions and local councils in the area to carry out an organized and multiplying activity in the care of vulnerable people.

In order to achieve all those programmes we need the appropriate infrastructures that lead us to work efficiently: material, technical equipment, staff and economic infrastructures.


We will show you below some of the projects and activities that are developed in Tudela’s local Assembly. These activities are possible thanks to the technical infrastructures, the paid staff (12 workers) and the volunteers (more than 400 volunteers).
· HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE (targeted at general population and disabled people).

SOCIAL INTERVENTION (targeted at immigrants, people without financial resources and old people)

- Supervised apartment program for immigrant women in complicated social circumstances

- Immigrant shelter for women arriving at Spanish coasts

- Cultural Linguistic Mediation service

- Shower and laundry service (for people without financial resources)

- Services to deal with poverty and social exclusion (people affected by the crisis)

- Special services for senior citizens (Day Care Centre, lending materials, memory workshops, how to use the mobile phone workshop…)
