The "Cooperativa Sociale Lo Spazio delle Idee" has among its aims, the promotion of active citizenship by organizing events, seminars, exchanges of best practices, work-shop featuring young people and their ideas and we also want to promote and organize any form of voluntary active citizenship, working with the schools and civil society to raise awareness on issues about European citizenship and unification. As sending organisation, we know that the EVS is undoubtedly a valuable tool that would allow the cooperative to achieve its goals, for exemple: providing chances for the youngsters of our area, especially for those with fewer opportunities, also acquiring additional knowledge and skills to exercise responsible citizenship, to live a meaningful experience of solidarity and personal growth.We believe that EVS is also an opportunity to foster intercultural dialogue, it is therefore our intention to promote and encourage youth mobility and involve young people to promote the culture of dialogue and peace, respecting humans diversities . Despite the historical moment we are living, characterized by increased fears for diversity that will inevitably involve our local community and young people in general, putting at risk the process of unification and integration of the peoples of Europe we are convinced that young Europeans have more in common than they can imagine. At the same time we are convinced that the need for awareness of new generations cannot be stopped, hence it must be encouraged by providing them tools to understand different cultures in order to prevent negative influences caused by stereotypes (from both sides ) which often are conveyed and reinforced by of mass media. EVS, then, can be considered a direct and meaningful experience to comprehend different cultures and it is important for our cooperation and for our whole community because it helps everybody in overcoming prejudices and fears challenging diversity based on race, ethnicity, sexuality, nationality, religion, intersts but also on profession, social status and wealth.The previous experience of our cooperation with the European Voluntary Service, began in November 2008 with the approval of the first expression of interest (Accreditation reference number 2008-IT-148) that has been renewed untill 31/01/2016 (Accreditation Reference Number 2013-IT-10). We hosted 13 EVS volunteers until August 2013.As sending organization we sent 13 volunteers abroad (the last ones are currently doing EVS in Bulgaria for 6 months and in Lithuania for 12 months).
