”Ung i Kungsbacka” (Youth in Kungsbacka, UiK) is a unit within the municipality of Kungsbacka. UiK is a local youth work organisation aiming to create platforms for young people of all ages. We focus on ages 13-20 but host activities for children as young as 7 years old as well as support young adults as old as 25.All youth work in UiK is based on the principles of voluntary participation, contribution and personal growth. This implies that every participant is there because he or she wants to be there, wants to contribute and wants to grow as an individual. Youth workers support, mentor and makes resources available but it is the commitment of the participants themselves which drives our projects forward. Within our work is also tools to make the informal learning very visible for the participants which after finishing projects generates a letter of competence - ELD, (Experience, Learning, Desciption and is a nice alternative to Youthpass also suitable not just for individuals but for groups. The goals of UiK are to:- Increase the political and social influence of young people- Increase the mental and physical health of young people- Motivate young people to participate in cultural activitiesExamples of current activities organised through UiK include:- LAN-parties- Skate-halls- Urban outdoor sport parks- Music festivals- Board- and roleplay gaming- Cosplay- Youth council- Photography- Stagecraft- DJ and music studios- LGBT hangouts- Summer camps-Urban Art- …and much more!
