The Familienerholungswerk (Family Recreation Service) of the church department Diocese Rottenburg-Stuttgart e.V. is the sponsor organization of Familienferiendörfer (Family Villages). These are located in the cities Schramberg, Eglofs and Langenargen. The first purpose of the organization is to increase social welfare work; especially with family holiday activities. Secondly, it hopes to increase help for disabled people, young people and old people. Thirdly, it hopes to increase religion and education (for example, family education and how to raise children). The Familienbildungs und –feriendorf “Eckenhof” (in English, ‘Family Education and Holiday Village’) is located in the city of Schramberg-Sulgen. It has 246 beds in 44 living residences. Each residence has 1 to 10 beds. There are 63 single and double rooms with shower and toilet. The property is 7 hectares (70,000m2) big and also has a forest. There is a lot to discover and try out: sliding, swinging, water-play area, big play areas, forest paths, and also a high- and low-level climbing park. The institution provides holidays for families with disabled and non-disabled children. It also offers holidays for people who care for a family member that has dementia (disease of the mind). It also offers themed holidays for families (for example, musical holidays), bi-national family holidays, games weekends, adventure days, etc.The organization’s purpose is to strengthen families with these offerings. So, this organization first accepts families with many children or those with special life situations.
