Die DJK Rheda und ihr Projekt "Mit Basketball durch Europa und die Welt" fühlen sich nicht nur für die sportliche Ausbildung/Aktivität ihrer Mitglieder verantwortlich, sondern vor allem für die Persönlichkeitsbildung und Auslandserfahrung ihrer Kinder und Jugendlichen. Der Verein fördert die Weltoffenheit und das Europabewusstsein seiner Mitglieder. Durch die Abteilung Palamósfreunde und die Städtepartnerschaft mit Palamós in Spanien, hat der Verein bereits langjährige Erfahrungen im Rahmen der europäischen Einigung und dem Zusammenwachsen der Partnerländer gesammelt. Aktive und Verantwortliche des Vereins kennen den Dienst durch FSJler und EVSler, die sich dem Verein während ihrer Zeit in Deutschland in den vergangenen Jahren angeschlossen haben. Gegenwärtig arbeitet die DJK Rheda eng mit der Kreisverwaltung des Girónes, der Stadtverwaltung von Lleida und der Organisation Mundus/Badalona zusammen. Diese Organisationen und Verwaltungen sind alle in der Partnerregion Katalonien/Spanien ansässig. In Anbetracht des regelmäßigen Freiwilligenaustausches sind die Kontakte fast wöchentlich. Bei der DJK Rheda handelt es sich um einen Sport- und Partnerschaftsverein mit annähernd 400 Mitgliedern. Das Hauptmerkmal liegt auf Basketball für Damen, Mädchen, Herren und Jungen. Menschen mit körperlicher Behinderung spielen gemeinsam Rollstuhlbasketball. Ferner gibt es Gymnastik- und Volleyballgruppen sowie die Partnerschaftsabteilung der Palamósfreunde. Ein Vorstand leitet den Sportverein und die erste Vorsitzende ist zeichnungsberechtigt. Die Haupttätigkeiten sind Jugendarbeit, Training und Spielbetrieb einer großen Zahl weiblicher und männlicher Basketballmannschaften. Der Verein arbeitet eng mit Schulen, anderen Sportvereinen, Stadtverwaltung, Kreisverwaltung und spanischen Partnern im Zusammenhang mit der Städtepartnerschaft von Rheda-Wiedenbrück und Palamós/Spanien und dem ESC mit den nationalen Agenturen Deutschlands und Spaniens zusammen.

The DJK Rheda and its project "Through Europe and the World with Basketball“ not only feels responsible for the sportive
training /activity of its members, but is primarily responsible for personality development and
experience abroad for their children and young people. The association promotes cosmopolitanism and European awareness
of its members. Through the department Palamósfreunde and the town twinning with Palamós in Spain, the
association already has many years of experience in the context of European unification and the growing together of
partner countries. Active and responsible persons of the association know the service through FSJ and EVS participants, who
have joined the association during their time in Germany in recent years. Currently
the DJK Rheda is working in close cooperation with the Girónes County Council, the Lleida City Council and the
Mundus/Badalona together. These organizations and administrations are all located in the partner region Catalonia/Spain. Given the regular exchange of volunteers, contacts are almost weekly. DJK
Rheda is a sports and partnership association with almost 400 members. The biggest department is basketball for women, girls, men and boys. People with physical disabilities play together wheelchair basketball. There are also gymnastics and volleyball groups and the partnership department of the Friends of Palamós. A board of directors manages the sports club and the first chairperson is authorised to sign.
The main activities are youth work, training and playing a large number of female and male
Basketball teams. The club works closely with schools, other sports clubs, city administration, district administration
and Spanish partners in connection with the town twinning of Rheda-Wiedenbrück and Palamós/Spain
and the ESC represented by the national agencies of Germany and Spain.
