The APAFF - Animal Protection Association of Figueira da Foz, formed on 15 May 2001 in 1st Notary Office of Figueira da Foz and considered Public Utility at DAJD/417/2012-desp. nº 1185/2012 - DR 173- II série - parte C. The main goal of organization is to find a lifelong, loving home for every pet, which includes objective to improve the quality of life for all companion animals by creating and supporting programs that save the lives of homeless pets and promote healthy relationships between people and pets. Activities of organization are addressed to the local community of Figueira da Foz and near surroundings, with a specific attention to children and youngsters. We run an educational program were we raise awareness at schools and other public facilities, distribution of informational roles in schools and elsewhere about the basic care that pets need and what obligations and rights of their owners.
APAFF supports animals of poorest households managing basic health care and sterilization of some and protects and attempts to solve issues with regard to complaints of mistreatment of animals. Animal welfare and public awareness are key actions in organizations work.
APAFF carries out such regular activities: APAFF runs a shelter for 250 dogs and 14 cats (at the moment), therefore daily we provide practical animal care; daily APAFF runs activities in Cat Neutering Center; Monthly we carry out food-rising campaigns, workshops, seminars and other awareness campaigns; Regularly APAFF runs TNR campaigns and fundraising campaigns.
