The Friends of Waldorf Education Rudolf Steiner e.V. are a non-profit association, founded in 1971 with the aim of promoting Waldorf Schools, Waldorf Kindergartens, curative education and social therapy institutions and other social projects in Europe and worldwide.

In 1993 the association became a recognized sponsor for international voluntary services. With the suspension of compulsory military service in Germany, the area of domestic voluntary services was added in 2011, including the possibility for people from abroad to do voluntary service in Germany. In the period from 1997 - 2008 the Friends of Waldorf Education were sending, hosting, and coordinating organisation in the European Voluntary Service.

Since then, the association has looked after more than 1,700 young people each year during their voluntary service and has acquired a high level of professional competence in the supervision of volunteers. About 60 preparation and follow-up seminars are held every year as well as 10 intermediate seminars.

The Friends of Waldorf Education are the largest provider of cross-border voluntary services in Germany. This gives them a key position within a comprehensive network of qualified host organisations in 18 European countries. These often host volunteers who have been placed by the Friends of Waldorf Education for many years and have thus acquired a high level of competence in accompanying volunteers. The Friends of Waldorf Education are in constant exchange with them and visit the host organisations regularly.

The aim of the Friends of Waldorf Education is to offer young adults the opportunity to take on social responsibility in local communities, to participate in society through active citizenship and thereby acquire skills and intercultural experience, thus contributing to a Europe of solidarity.

The third field of work of the association is emergency education, starting in 2006. It is aimed at psycho-traumatised children and young people in or from crisis and disaster areas worldwide.

Die Freunde der Erziehungskunst Rudolf Steiners e.V. sind ein gemeinnütziger Verein, der 1971 mit dem Ziel gegründet wurde, Waldorfschulen, Waldorfkindergärten, heilpädagogische und sozialtherapeutische Einrichtungen und andere soziale Projekte in Europa und weltweit zu fördern.

Seit 1993 ist der Verein ein anerkannter Träger internationaler Freiwilligendienste. Mit der Aufhebung der Wehrpflicht in Deutschland kam 2011 der Bereich der inländischen Freiwilligendienste hinzu, einschließlich der Möglichkeit für Menschen aus dem Ausland, einen Freiwilligendienst in Deutschland zu leisten. In der Zeit von 1997 bis 2008 waren die Freunde der Erziehungskunst Entsende-, Aufnahme- und Koordinierungsorganisation im Europäischen Freiwilligendienst.

Seither betreut der Verein jedes Jahr mehr als 1.700 junge Menschen während ihres Freiwilligendienstes und hat sich eine hohe Fachkompetenz in der Betreuung von Freiwilligen erworben. Jährlich finden etwa 60 Vor- und Nachbereitungsseminare sowie 10 Zwischenseminare statt.

Die Freunde der Erziehungskunst sind der größte Anbieter von grenzüberschreitenden Freiwilligendiensten in Deutschland. Damit nehmen sie eine Schlüsselposition in einem umfassenden Netzwerk qualifizierter Aufnahmeorganisationen in 18 europäischen Ländern ein. Diese nehmen oft Freiwillige auf, die seit vielen Jahren von den Freunden der Erziehungskunst vermittelt werden und sich dadurch eine hohe Kompetenz in der Begleitung von Freiwilligen erworben haben. Die Freunde der Erziehungskunst stehen in ständigem Austausch mit ihnen und besuchen die Aufnahmeorganisationen regelmäßig.

Ziel der Freunde der Erziehungskunst ist es, jungen Erwachsenen die Möglichkeit zu bieten, soziale Verantwortung in den Gemeinden vor Ort zu übernehmen, durch aktive Bürgerschaft an der Gesellschaft teilzuhaben und dadurch Fähigkeiten und interkulturelle Erfahrungen zu erwerben und so zu einem Europa der Solidarität beizutragen.

Das dritte Arbeitsfeld der Vereinigung ist die Notfallpädagogik, beginnend im Jahr 2006. Sie richtet sich an psychotraumatisierte Kinder und Jugendliche in oder aus Krisen- und Katastrophengebieten weltweit.
