Bhalobasa Association ONLUS (from now onward “Bhalobasa”) since 1991 deals with children' long distance adoption, microcredit, mainly in educational, social and health sector in India, Burkina Faso, RDC, Uganda and Tanzania. Presently, Bhalobasa manages 20 projects targetting about 1000 people overall and since its establishment has been managing up tp 494 projects.
The projects target mainly: families with children at school and pre-school age, teen-agers, migrants, in both rural areas with a high rate of illiteracy and some urban areas, namely:
(Burkina Faso) Bobo Diulasso, Po, Tougouri. Uganda: Kampala, Golomolo, Luweero; (Tanzania): Bumbire Island; (RDC): Goma, Katana, Burale; (India) Calcutta, Asansol, Chandannagar, Moropai, Bolpur, Shantinagar, Alampur, Kamarpara, Nuta.
Bhalo conduct also dissemination and activities in Italian schools (primary, middle and high schools). This activity consists in stimulating students interest toward Bhalo inititives and presenting the context of the projects. An average of 10 schools per year are involved. All these activities have been carried on just by volunteers through travels open to all of them and their families which were aimed at checking the projects' outputs and know the sponsored people and their real needs. A "Bhalo Magazine" reaches about 1.200 people and it is published on-line 4 times a year. An on-line monthly newsletter is also sent at least once a month to 1.200 subscribers.
