Burg Rieneck is an international learning and meeting center, and National Scout Centre located in the small town Rieneck. With only 2,000 inhabitants, Rieneck is one of the smallest towns in Bavaria; it lies in the beautiful and remote Sinn valley in the Main-Spessart region on the edge of the Spessart Forest. The castle, surrounded by woods, is run as a guest house and activity centre for groups. With rooms for up to 137 people and a campground for an additional 100 people, the castle averages about 25,000 overnight stays per year.
The guests of the castle come from a range of backgrounds including school groups, church groups, families, youth organizations, seminars, scouts and guides. These groups are offered a wide range of educational programs and activities including canoe tours, archery, wide games, GPS scavenger hunts, crafts and disco events.
Working at Burg Rieneck will give you a valuable insight into the running of an international seminar centre. Tasks for volunteers may include welcoming the groups at the castle, giving tours of the grounds and supporting the staff with the group activities. Occasionally, volunteers may also be asked to assist in the kitchen, housekeeping or in the janitorial area.
