OCC is an association working for the integration and social inclusion of migrants and refugees in local host communities by offering non-formal education, technology sports, and leisure activities, and various forms of legal and social assistance. The OCC promotes the inclusion and empowerment of migrants and refugees by engaging both host country nationals and third-country nationals in our activities. Open Cultural Center (OCC) was established in 2016 at the height of the refugee crisis in Europe and today, Open Cultural Center is active in Polykastro, Greece, and in Barcelona, Spain.

The mission and values of the OCC fully align with the general objectives of the ESC, as the long-term goal of our activities is to build a more inclusive and diverse society that promotes equality within the response to challenges posed by the refugee crisis in Europe and specifically in Spain and Greece.

OCC hosts young volunteers for up to twelve months. Participants help deliver activities and classes, organize events and campaigns, and support communications and social media while gaining valuable work experience and building interpersonal skills. Participants should be interested in working in a diverse and intercultural environment and have a desire to work with and for refugees. It is essential that volunteer participants are open-minded, respectful, and adaptable with strong interpersonal skills. The participants should be proactive, motivated, and able to work autonomously.
