Foundation ADRA Latvia was established in 1993, and it operates on several short and long term projects in humanitarian aid – packages, soup kitchen, Christmas parcels and Easter gifts, delivery of different devices for hospitals etc.

ADRA Latvija represents a worldwide organization ADRA International.

ADRA International is a Christian humanitarian aid organisation, that was established in 1956, it provides help globally and helps in development issues as well as other aid independent of religious or political views, gender, ethnicity or nationality.

DEVELOPMENT – it mainly focuses on the rights of an individual, creates opportunities for people in the development countries (Africa, Asia, part of Middle East etc.), it helps other countries, where such help is needed. ADRA projects are oriented towards people, to help them get out of doom. For example, a project provides an opportunity for people to learn a new skill and survive after the project is over, and to help to the next person.

HELP – First, it is humanitarian aid in different natural disasters and catastrophes for people affected by them. For example, ADRA was one of the first and lead organizations that provided help in 2010 Haiti earthquake, ADRA coordinated and provided first aid for every individual. It was through food items, hygiene products, shelter for those, who have lost their homes. Second, ADRA advocates for the basic human needs (for example, children in crisis, women suffering from violence etc.)

ADRA operates in five fields:
• Clean food items
• economic development,
• Health,
• Help in crisis situations,
• Education.

ADRA Latvija has carried out these projects:
• Reading and writing classes for grown-up roma people
• Setting up a room for quality leisure time in Ilūkstes 1. Highschool
• Educational summer camps for children “Come and do it – you can!”
• Support project for low income families and their children “School bag”
• Charity shop “Good and used”
• Support for organizations, that organize workshops for children from high risk families.
• Quality time events for children in the orphanage “Sprīdītis”

ADRA Latvija has participated in these projects:
• Earthquake in Nepal,
• Flood in Bosnia and Herzegovina,
• Haiyan typhoon in the Philippines.

ADRA Latvija long term projects:
• annual Christmas project “Children help Children” with a goal to give joy to the vulnerable persons (since 2010)
• “Children in India” – gathering of donations to provide financial support for children to learn and live in the school in India (since 2013 for at least 10 children)
• Humanitarian aid for low income families
• Humanitarian aid for health facilities.
