Awesome People is a non-profit organization registered in April 2013 in Sweden. We work with experiential learning activities, innovative projects, and the development of new methods and tools in order to make people be and feel awesome - one learning experience at a time - for people to create a better world for themselves, for others, and for the planet. We work to empower people so they in turn can empower others. In this way, we contribute to the creation of a more just world built on solidarity. We believe it is important to enhance young people's entrepreneurial mindsets and skills and promote the participation of disadvantaged groups in society. In our statutes, it is stated that "Awesome People is religiously and politically independent. Awesome People work according to democratic principles, work for equality and non-discrimination." The organization is working with youth in Örebro county in Sweden and is conducting projects targeting youth 13-30 years old but also adults. We believe in peer learning and the majority of our members are under 30 which gives us a platform for youth to empower youth.

We have a special focus on young people with migrant backgrounds and have a lot of experience and expertise in integration and inclusion activities. We work with local, regional and national projects as well as international projects. Our cornerstones in the organization are: Be Brilliant, Be Brave, Be Different, Be Yourself – Be Awesome! These cornerstones describe what we want people to think and feel about themselves in order to be active citizens and our organization offer easily accessible opportunities to become a more active citizen and practice active citizenship through non-formal learning activities. In our statutes, we have stated "Awesome People aims to strengthen the quality of youth work and to strengthen and broaden participation in meaningful leisure activities and reach under-represented groups of young people, as well as promote collaboration and integration between different youth groups. Through a variety of projects and activities, the association will contribute to reducing exclusion and primarily increase young people's participation in society."

We work with a wide spectrum of topics important for young people today focusing on sustainable development, social inclusion, and equal opportunities. We have lately focused more on participation in democratic life focusing both on the concept of democracy as governance and democratic values since we believe it is of great importance that young people stand up for and support our democracy which we cannot take for granted. We also believe it is important that young people with various backgrounds meet and work together, therefor we focus a lot on inclusion activities and also targeting young people with fewer opportunities such as young people with migrant backgrounds, young people within the LGBTQ+ community, and young people in rural areas. We will be focusing a lot on the 11 EU Youth goals and the UN Development goals cutting across a variety of topics important for sustainable development. We want to create a society based on solidarity which is why our activities include topics such as empathy, inclusion, human rights, and active citizenship.
