People Help the People is a non-profit organization founded in Palermo in 2009 with the aim of social solidarity where the person is at the center. An objective that pursues through actions that reach the conception and realization of projects within a global system of sustainable development, according to the concept of human integration. The main aim of People Help the People is to create opportunities for cooperation and partnership between the countries of the European Union and the Mediterranean area, weaving a dense network of intercultural exchanges that allows to export the best practices from a country to the other, with a view to greater integration between peoples. An integration which represents not only an human growth but also a lever of economic development and social redemption. And Sicily, the ideological basis of this network, plays a symbolic and strategic role together, due to its geographical position of privilege.
The associative activities are addressed to the following target groups:
-Vulnerable minors (unaccompanied minors, children with disabilities, minors with learning difficulties, second-generation immigrant children, children victims of violence)
-Unemployed young people
-Women, young people, minors victims of violence
-Young workers
-Non-formal continuing education for young people and adults of active working age
-Women and men of non-working age

The activities carried out concern the following areas of intervention:
-Non-formal and informal training activities for young professionals
-Laboratories against school drop-out in partnership with local schools
-Laboratories for vocational training and business creation for unemployed young people from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds
-Research activities in the digital and technological sector in order to improve the lifestyle of children and adults with psycho-physical difficulties
-Continuing training activities for adults
-Non-formal intergenerational training activities.
People Help the People has built a strong partnership network at local and European level.

SOCIAL PROMOTION ACTIVITIES:
- Protection and promotion of civil rights, awareness of legality and the issue of equal opportunities between men and women;
- Promotion and management of civil service projects in Italy and abroad and voluntary activities, with the realization of specialization courses and seminars aimed at national and international cooperation;
- Organization of professional training courses, language courses, colonies, recovery courses, (also through the use of digital platforms for e-learning and distance learning), and social, cultural and recreational initiatives , towards people in economic, social, physical, psychological and family disadvantages.

CULTURAL PROMOTION ACTIVITIES:
- Protection, promotion and enhancement of the historical, artistic and environmental heritage of the territory, (museums, libraries and archives, monuments, parks and public flowerbeds) also with the organization of events and initiatives aimed at citizenship, with particular attention to educational activities (exhibitions, seminars and conferences, concerts and theatrical performances) aimed at enhancing the typicality of the areas involved and promoting social integration;
- Protection, enhancement, recovery and restoration of libraries, museums, archives, monuments, artistic and historical assets, including through direct management, or through third parties.
-Promotion of culture and education for reading through the creation, publication and promotion of editorial products (newspapers, magazines, periodicals, newspapers, books) also through the internet and the web.
In particular, it was established a reading group "Leggere Insieme”, which meets periodically and shares the emotion of a chosen text, an open, free space, the transfer of reading experiences.
