AEGEE (Association des États Généraux des Étudiants de l’Europe) is one of Europe’s biggest interdisciplinary student organisations. As a non-governmental, politically independent, and non-profit organisation AEGEE is open to students and young people from all faculties and disciplines. Since its foundation in 1985 in Paris, AEGEE puts the idea of a unified Europe into practice by operating without a national level, bringing a network of 13000 friends together from, 165 cities in 40 countries, directly in touch with each other via cultural exchanges, non-formal educational opportunities and thematic projects. AEGEE has been active in the field of youth participation, youth employment, youth mobility, European citizenship and civic education, while constantly striving for a united and borderless Europe that is socially, economically and culturally integrated.
The AEGEE-Europe office oversees the thematic and administrative functioning of the organisation. The head office serves as a main point for contact, organisational development, as well as strengthening AEGEE’s presence in Brussels, Belgium. The work of the head office gives a great opportunity for volunteers to learn about organisational management, project management, intercultural learning, diversity and inclusion practices, administration and reporting, and policy and advocacy.
AEGEE is an active advocate for youth participation and empowering young people by raising them to be active and aware citizens of Europe. AEGEE-Europe organises the following activities on a weekly-bi-weekly basis: coordination meetings gathering international group of volunteers, in-house trainings providing volunteers with essential skills (PR, FR, Leadership etc.), Brussels-based visibility events (study fair, conferences etc.)
