Museum and glassstudio Baruther Glashütte aim at the promotion of the European Cultural Heritage of glass. Our target groups are variant. We are glad to have families, senior people, pupils, vacationers and other guests. Our regular activities are to run a glass studio which is producing for our museum shop and sustain the immaterial Culture of the manual glass production. In the museum we have two departments dealing with the 300 year old history of our glass factory and its implications for the European technical and cultural aspects and the so-called Burger-Ausstellung that covers life and scope of Reinhold Burger, a technical glass blower. He was born at our place, invented the thermos flask and was pioneer of x-ray technology. We are analyzing our collection and publish the information on internet platforms. Our museum site Museumsdorf Baruther Glashütte is forum for manufacturing and craft and attracts international guest that are supposed to be addressed in English or their specific vernaculars.
Pedagogical programs include guided tours of the museum and nature area. Glass, pottery, textile, and herb workshops offer creative manual activity.
Festivities, expositions, and lectures are held throughout the year in the museum park. The Christmas market on the first Advent weekend and the children’s festival in August are only a few of the highlights.
