We are a public organization that works from all departments and areas of work leading efforts towards building an equitable, inclusive and tolerant society. The Mancomunidad del Barrio del Cristo in 1993 was declared by the Consell de la Generalitat Valenciana "Preferential Action Neighbourhood". Therefore, from the different areas of the "Mancomunidad" programs are carried out to improve the living conditions of the inhabitants (labour insertion, reduction of school absenteeism, compensatory education, social inclusion, gender equality and cultural promotion)
From the youth area we are focused in the healthy development of the young people and for that we offer different non-formal education programs, from our centre of information and youth animation called CIAJ. The general objectives of the youth area are:
• Favour the process of personal maturation.
• Enhance the skills for personal and social relationships.
• Improve self-esteem, the enjoyment of leisure and free time and the development of skills such as creativity, expression or solidarity.
• Facilitate the process of maturation and social insertion, educating in active social participation and in the development of democratic values.
• Help to adopt a critical attitude towards social conventions, the instances of power and the media.
• Improve employment opportunities, fostering personal skills, self-employment and job placement.
At the moment, we offer these programs and services for young people:
• Information and counselling service for young people.
• Expedition of youth card, hostel card (REAJ) and international student card service.
• Awareness campaigns in the Highschool centre of the municipality.
• European service. Counselling and information about Erasmus + programme.
• Program "Aula jove" daily activities program after school (target group 12 to 17 years old).
• "Espai jove" program of free time activities where young people enjoy activities such as: summer camps, gymkhana, cineforum, sports tournaments, talks and excursions.
• Volunteer Group program with young people from 18 to 30 years old. This group focuses on the development of citizen awareness campaigns. The group democratically choose what type of activities they want to organize and together with the technical team of the youth centre that advises and guides them prepare the actions.
