Περιγραφή της οργάνωσης

Founded in 1986, the association "Abbadiako Adixkideak - The Friends of Abbadia" was labeled CPIE Littoral Basque in 2008. It is a member of the UNCPIE (National Union www.cpie.fr).
The CPIE acts in partnership with others for the protection and the valorization of the littoral.
Originally based on the domain Abbadia, property of the Conservatoire du littoral, CPIE acts today on the entire north and south Basque coast.
Our objectives are to contribute to the Sustainable Development of the Basque Coast by proposing a cross-view of the territories, maritime space and human heritage by combining scientific, environmental and artistic approaches.
Composed of volunteers and employees, the association is open to all. It defends the values ​​of solidarity and respect for cultural and linguistic diversity. It promotes civic responsibility and contributes to social wellbeing and the protection of the environment.

The association is at the service of
- the inhabitants and socioprofessional stakeholders
- schools and other educational institutions
- local elected officials and local authorities

"To research, To develop, To transmit" are our three modes of our intervention. They are conducted by
- educational projects,
- the resource center and our support for project promoters in the territory,
- environmental mediation and expertise,
- cultural and artistic animation.

OUR 4 AXES OF WORK:

HERITAGE AND ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION
Through pedagogical research and heritage education, the CPIE became a tool for valuing and appropriating the Basque coastline. It develops its actions in the direction of all publics by the alternation of arts and sciences, projects and citizen participation. It intervenes in particular on the protected natural spaces at the properties of the Conservatory of the littoral (Domain of Abbadia and Basque Corniche).

RESOURCE CENTER FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
Information point nature, environment and sustainable development, this documentary center disseminates knowledge and methods throughout the territory. It supports projects and environmental and sustainable approaches. With communities, it participates in environmental charters, eco-veille, Agenda 21 etc ...

MEDIATION AND EXPERTISE OF THE TERRITORY
As an expert and assembler of skills, the CPIE participates in the emergence and enrichment of the public debate about taking into account the principles of sustainability in the development of Basque coastal territory (debates, conferences, round tables, participatory workshops ...) .

SCIENTIFIC AND ARTISTIC CULTURAL ANIMATION
Responsible for the residences of artists of the Domaine d'Abbadia, it is by crossing the scientific and artistic approaches that the CPIE develops its actions of cultural mediation (visits of workshops, edition, exhibitions, creative projects ...)
