The Association of Photographers of Ankara (AFSAD) was established in 1977 with the aim of dissemination of photographs, solidarity and cooperation among photograph lovers, creation of platforms to discuss philosophy, aesthetics and technical problems in photography. In 1991, AFSAD received the "Public Benefit Association" statue. In the field of photography in Turkey, is a non-governmental organization that is the only photo-association with this status. People who are interested in the art of photography and cinema can become AFSAD members. AFSAD is making documentary and artistic projects in different subjects and trainings. In addition to its photo-based activities, AFSAD fulfills the requirements of being a non-governmental organization. In addition to this, AFSAD is conducting activities that are inspired by social issues in line with the conditions of the day.
Through photography, AFSAD has held exhibitions, slide shows, conversations and meetings with many countries in order to bring together different cultures.

Regular activities /Basic activities of AFSAD: To give seminars intended for such as photography education, script, short film, art history, art philosophy; To make documentary and social projects.To organize national and international exhibitions and shows or provide organization. To carry out communication and publication activities that will contribute to the field of photography theoretically;to make social activities.
Organizing events and competitions such as meetings, conferences, seminars, workshops, exhibitions, photographic film shows, application activities, symposiums, congresses and panels related to photography or other culture and art subjects.
To provide working environment for photograph artists, to evaluate their works
Artistic, cultural and scientific studies are carried out by public institutions and organizations, real or legal persons, other institutions, organizations and communities (universities, foundations, associations, NGOS, private companies, trade associations, professional organizations, trade unions and the like) supports, contributes, cooperates and collaborates, and prepares and carries out national and international projects together.
