Beschreibung der Einrichtung

Youthopolis is based in Drobeta Turnu Severin, a small city in the South-West of Romania, near the Danube’s Gorges, a unique place with a high touristic potential. Our aim is to support and promote youth interests on local, national and international level for an efficient integration in the nowadays European dynamic society.
We focus on cooperation with other non-profit organization, schools or other public institutions (national or/and international level) to exchange experience in the field of education, culture or youth issues in the framework of non-formal and informal education. Among the local institutions we have collaborated with and on which we rely for future initiative, there are: The Local Council and the Prefecture Insitution in Mehedinti County, the Sport and Youth Directorate of Mehedinti County, The Cultural Palace Theodor Costescu, more than 5 high schools from all parts of the county, private sector (banks, hotels, commercial entities).
Youthopolis’ members are teachers, school counselors, youth workers and youngsters (aged 13-35) who consider that school represents the main information provider, but it is not flexible enough to respond to each individual’s needs. Therefore, we organize activities aiming: social integration, leadership, group dynamics, volunteering, career counselling and teamwork, active and democratic participation.
Our target group: students, teachers, parents, people in the community. We give a special attention to young people coming from disadvantaged background: youth living in rural area/outskirts, institutionalized young people or young adults who left the institutionalized system, youth whose parents have social benefits or work abroad, orphans etc.
