Equo Garantito is the National Assembly of Italian Fair Trade organizations - a non-profit organization that promotes the values of Fair Trade and fair economy in Italy through: - awareness raising activities for citizens, students, consumers, - training for our members, fair trade professionals, teachers, companies, - lobbying and advocacy at local, national and international level, - the monitoring of its members according to the Italian Charter of Fair Trade and WFTO principles. Our network is composed by 72 members (importers and World Shops, cooperatives, social cooperatives), running more than 200 World Shops around Italy counting on the support of more than 4000 committed volunteers and working with 200 Producer Organizations in Asia, Africa and Latin America. We provide spaces for producers, exporters, importers, retailers, and consumers to connect and work together, exchange best practices, forge synergies and speak out for Fair Trade – all working towards a sustainable and fair global economy. Equo Garantito was originally established to unite fair traders around Italy to speak in one voice on Fair Trade and trade justice issues, sustainable economy, empowerment of economically marginalised producers, and the fight against poverty and climate change. We work to serve this mission with our members and partners through World Fair Trade Day celebration, events, conferences, campaigns and advocacy work. In 2018 Equo Garantito reached: MORE THAN 400 STUDENTS WITH ITS EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES MORE THAN 5000 PEOPLE THROUGH EVENTS AND TRAINING SESSIONS We work together to create synergies to advance Fair Trade as a tangible contribution to the fight against poverty and climate change. "Fair Trade is a trading partnership, based on dialogue, transparency and respect, that seeks greater equity in international trade. It contributes to sustainable development by offering better trading conditions to, and securing the rights of, marginalized producers and workers – especially in the South. Fair Trade organisations have a clear commitment to Fair Trade as the principal core of their mission. They, backed by consumers, are engaged actively in supporting producers, awareness raising and in campaigning for changes in the rules and practice of conventional international trade." Fair Trade is more than just trading: It proves that greater justice in world trade is possible. It highlights the need for change in the rules and practice of conventional trade and shows how a successful business can also put people first. It is a tangible contribution to the fight against poverty, climate change and economic crisis.
