Miejska Biblioteka Publiczna im. Zofii Nałkowskiej – Przasnysz public library has been operating since 1946. Since 2011 it has served also for the Przasnysz poviat (administrative district). Currently the Library has 2 units: the main library located in a newly renovated, two-storey building at the centre of the town and a branch situated in a large residential area. Its mission is to be a place for the inhabitants, to educate, integrate and support them but also to draw inspiration from them.
MBP performs the traditional role of the library, i.e. providing book collections on site (over 40 thousand times per year) and lending to the readers (over 40 thousand loans per year). Besides, it conducts activities in the field of culture and education aimed at different age groups such as art and theatre workshops, meetings with authors, book discussion club, excursions related to literature, "night of libraries" event. The activities of the library organised in Przasnysz are warmly received by the local community, e.g. in 2018 there were 4698 participants with 4085 being regular users of the library.
MBP is one of three main cultural institutions in Przasnysz and plays an important role in life of the community. Inhabitants of Przasnysz constitute the vast majority (about 90%) of the users and guest of the library.
Przasnysz is a small town with population slightly over 17 thousand people located in Northern Masovia, 110 km from Warsaw.
