The Camphill School Association comprises of 2 locations: Camphill School Community of Bruckfelden and Brachenreuthe: The Camphill School Community of Bruckfelden is an anthroposophical institution and boarding school for special needs. At this time, 40 adolescences and young adults with a primary mental disability live, learn, and work there. In 8 housing communities they live together with their carers, apprentices, interns, and volunteers. The pupils go through the so called “work preparation school levels” during their time at the boarding school for special needs. They also complete different internships. These two elements makes it possible for the pupils to expand and deepen what they already know in lessons, and gain experience with
different materials, handicrafts, and work processes in the workshop area. They also learn how to be independent in the areas of household and personal care as much as it is possible for them. Here social togetherness at the school offers them a wide practice field for free time organisation, division of responsibilities, and connectedness in personal relationships. In daily life, the adolescences and co-workers approach each other at work while being together socially, and at cultural events, whereby not only the adolescent pupils learn something but also the employees. Employees and pupils of the Camphill School Community of Bruckfelden run a culture café in a converted former storehouse in the community of Frickingen-Altheim, called "Lagerhäusle.” Here the concept of integration and inclusion in the community and society are made real in a very concrete way through contact with people with special needs.
The institution offers great possibilities for personal growth and many new experiences in working with adolescents and young adults. Thereby, they live and work in terrific teams. Brachenreuthe is a school community near the Lake Constance, in which the teachers, educators and therapists live together with the children, learn together and work hand in hand. In the therapeutic community they are working with disabled children and young people and live in familylike groups. One focus of the
work is the assistance of children with autistic behavior. The village-like work site includes nine living houses, classrooms, therapy buildings and common rooms as well as farming and gardening facilities. Currently in Brachenreuthe live 76 children with disabilities, including children of preschool age. The curative work is divided into the following areas: community services, school, special education kindergarten, medical care, therapies and therapeutic community.
