Beschreibung der Einrichtung

Kaunas Artists' House (KAH) is a vibrant institution for contemporary culture. KAH is one of the most important and longest existing Kaunas artistic spaces. Previously known for the bohemian atmosphere, today the villa of KAH works with contemporary content and diverse cultural phenomena. We present emerging artists, new ideas and cultural experiments. Situated in a beautiful historical street the building of KAH now hosts a wide range of events: concerts, film screenings, slam poetry readings, creative workshops, small community festivals and more.
KAH aims to offer a diverse cultural repertoire through several different programs. KAH residency programs hosts artists and curators from abroad, presenting their work in Kaunas. KAH educational program offers workshops, camps and other events for children and youngsters from different backgrounds: socially and economically challenged youth, refugee youth, differently abled youth. KAH also has an Infocentre - a cultural embassy of the city which connects artists, institutions and residents as well as guests of the city. The Infocentre collects and spreads cultural online and printed information, and also takes care of our little library with the latest international cultural publications.
KAH has a young and ambitious staff and we aim at presenting contemporary formats and ideas. Sometimes we become pioneers with content that hasn't been presented in the city before and we always try to find new interesting people and organisations to cooperate with. The biggest part of our audience consists of young, educated, active city people. We have a strong emphasis on accessibility, diversity and inclusion: we cooperate and have projects with the community of people with hearing impairment (deaf people), visually impaired (blind people), refugee youth, local youth centres and the elderly. We are an open-minded institution, constantly looking for new ideas, formats and links to local and international communities.
