Argonaftes is a not for profit organisation, it consists of young people from all over Cyprus. The group was formed in 2003 as a club to promote to sports and physical activities, but now the organisation has developed and has many initiatives supporting to grow and unleash potential of Cypriot youth through non-formal learning workshops, arts sessions, talks and debates as well as environment and sport. The main aim of the Argonaftes is to engage local youth in raising awareness as well as involve youth in developing sustainable, replicable and innovative solutions to some of the most pressing issues of today's Cyprus - within sectors of environment, education, job opportunities, unemployment, economy, cultural awareness volunteerism and others. At the moment, the group consists of 400 members and represents a wide age group from 13 up to 38 years old. At the moment Argonaftes is focusing on working with youth aged 16 and above from underprivileged backgrounds, from disadvantaged socio-economic areas. The organisation is developing new initiatives and ideas on how to promote and generate opportunities working towards unleashing potential and growth of youth with fewer opportunities. Argonaftes places major on involving youth to become socially active contributing to developing the local areas they represent across Cyprus.
