Scoutcentrum Rotterdam facilitates outdoor group activities with the aim young people can experience and learn about nature while they develop themselves unknowingly on a personal level.
Scoutcentrum Rotterdam accomodates self supporting groups. Primary we focus on scouting groups and events; secondary we focus on groups related to sports, education and cultural activities.
We rent out a grouphouse with 57 beds, fixed tents (glamping) with 40 beds and 11 campgrounds (normal times, we plan to reconsider usage for post-corona time). Dayuse is also possible as well as multiple day events.
We acommodate over 15.000 overnight stays (average 2015-2019). Our guests mainly origin from Europe.
Scoutcentrum Rotterdam is managed by a group of enthousiastic volunteers, 2 managers, an active group of 20 volunteers and a small board. The scoutcentre has no paid staff. There are also 2 active local scouting groups located at Scoutcentrum Rotterdam. All our volunteers are a member of Scouting Nederland. We are affiliated with Scouting Nederland but we are an independant legal entity.
The owner of the property is Stichting Volkskracht (https://volkskracht.nl/Stichtingen/Stichting-Bevordering-van-Volkskracht), a filantropic foundation aimed at developing local social and cultural initiatives in the Rotterdam region.
Scoutcentrum Rotterdam is mainly visited by guests aging from 6 to 20 in seperate groups. Normally they are selfsupporting: They cook themselves and organise their own programme. The staff of the Scoutcentrum has a supportive role for the group leaders of the visiting group. In the months march-june and september-november most guests are related to (high)schools, in the months july and august we are visited by scoutgroups on their summercamp.
Scoutcentrum Rotterdam does not rent out to parties, weddings or familyweekends. Primarily this is because these groups do not match our aims and goals. Secondarily; these groups need a level of management and guidance that is beyond the span of control of our volunteer based organistion.
