Ukrainian YouthNGO "National Organization of Scouts of Ukraine" (abbreviate NOSU) was established at 26 October 2007 and is a voluntary, non-profit, non-political non-governmental educational organization for childrenand young people is open for all without distinction as to race, sex, ethnic or socialorigin,religion, economic status, place of residence, language communication.The organization extends to the entire territory of Ukraine.
The main purpose ofthe organization -is to promote the development of children and youth as individuals and responsible citizens of Ukraine, reveal their fullest physical, emotional, mental, social and spiritual potential and promote Scouting in Ukraine and safe guard the common interests of its members.
During the life experience of the NOSU, one of the most effective forms of activities with youth was educational and collaborative work such as also forums dedicated to specific topics and purposes.
The Scout movement is based on the following principles:
1) Duty to God, namely: observance of spiritual principles and loyalty to religion, expressed in the acceptance of duties, as a result of this.
2) Duty to others, namely:
- loyalty to his country in harmony with the promotion of local, national and international level, mutual understanding and cooperation.
- participation in the development of society with the recognition and respect of the dignity of mankind and the integrity of the natural world.
3) Duty to yourself, namely: responsibility for your own development
All members of the Scout Movement must be faithful to the Scout Promise and the Scout Law.
Scout promise: "On my honor I promise to the best of my abilities to do my duty to God and Ukraine, help others at all times, and obey by the Scout Law."
The Scout Law:
1. A Scout is honest.
2. A Scout is loyal.
3. A Scout is useful and helpful to others.
4. A Scout is a friend to all and a good brother/sister to any other Scout.
5. A Scout is courteous and obedient.
6. A Scout is always cheerful.
7. A Scout is thrifty.
8. A Scout is a friend to nature.
9. A Scout tempers its body and spirit.
10. A Scout is clean in its thought, word, and deed.
Scout Method is a system of progressive self-education which is based on the interaction of the following elements:
- Promise and Law
- Learning by doing
- Personal progression
- Team system
- Adult support
- Symbolic framework
- Nature
- Community involvement
Target group of NOSU are people between 6 and 100 years. Youth program that NOSU runs is aimed to age 6-21 years, and people who are older they usually work as Scout leaders, instructors, professionals.
Children and youth have weekly meetings for education, good deeds, projects, events. Regulary Scouts have camps and events in the nature. Big part of svout life is education.
