Opis organizacji

The city council of Agres is the local public administration of a small village in the mountains of the Alicante (in the region Comunitat Valenciana). Agres is located in the mountain, populated by 525 people and it is highly touristic venue. Even if it is a small village, it has a very active social and cultural life and it's citizens are highly motivated towards the active citizenship and community development. Agres has a public school (including kindergarden and primary education, aged 2-12 years old), and also a nursery school (kids aged 0-3 years old). There is a sport area (including football field, fronton and outdoor-summer swimmingpool), a public library, a youth center, a cultural center, a music school, a tourist info office and 2 churches. There are around 25 active social and cultural NGO's, connected with environment and with the local celebrations. Agres is very popular in the region for the nice outdoor hikes available and also for the religious pilgrimage to the monastery. In Agres there is another institution with one volunteer from the European Solidarity Corps for long term volunteering projects.
The connections with public transport are bus and train. There is a bus stop connecting with the nearest villages and with Alcoy and Alicante. There is also a train station connecting with Valencia city center in 1h30' approximately.
There are 4 shops and 7 restaurants.
The city council wants to provide extra support to the youth workers in order to improve the quality of the activities that are organised in Agres for the kids and youth. Every day of the week there are activities for kids and youth and the volunteers will be supporting these activities and providing and European/Intercultural added value to them. In the village we have around 25 kids aged 2-12 years old, and we also have around 15 teenagers aged 12-17 years old. Around the age of 18, they move to bigger cities in order to attend university or vocational education, so they only come back to Agres in the weekends and in the holidays. So these is our main target group for the activities of the week.
The main activities are those connected with the empowerment and support to the educational process of the kids and youth. The activities where the volunteers will be supporting the youth workers take place from Monday to Friday and they are the following:
08'00: Early morning (before-school) children care
09'00: Library support and English language conversation support
11'00: OLS language learning and online visibility actions
12'00: LUNCH BREAK - FREE TIME
14'00: Lunch time (support and control of the lunch time of the kids, no cooking and no serving involved)
15'00: Games and workshops (sports, dancing, crafts, technology, storytelling, English lessons, homework support) 17'00: END OF ACTIVITIES

--------

Friday evening, from 18'00-20'00, the support to youth center activities takes place.
The total working hours per week is:
