Rezekne City Council Administration “Social Department” is an institution established by Rezekne City Council - a branch administration that develops and implements social policy in Rezekne City Municipality (established on June 1, 1992). The mission of the Social Department : to promote the quality of life of the residents of Rēzekne city by ensuring the professional, high-quality and efficient operation of the system of social assistance and social services (social care, social rehabilitation, home care, social and psychological work) in accordance with the needs of people. The aim of the Social Department is to provide social work, social care, social care services, social rehabilitation services and social assistance to persons whose place of residence is registered in Rēzekne City Municipality. The institution consists of:
1) administration, incl. 4 departments:
*Support Department;
*Social Services Department;
*Social Assistance Department;
*Accounting Department.

2) 5 structural units:
*Children's Social Services Center;
*Home Care Office;
*Shelter;
*Pensioner Social Services Center;
*Multifunctional social services center.

Main target groups for Social Department and its units are persons of retirement age; people with disabilities, families with children and children and young people aged 7-25.
